Microwave for three seconds.
Microwave butter for 3 more seconds after rotating it.
Continue to do this until your butter has completely melted.

Sliced Butter Technique
You can slice your butter stick if you’ve just taken it out of the refrigerator (not the freezer). Leave the slices in the sun for about 30 minutes. The butter will soften to the point that it can be used for baking.

Rolling Pin Technique
Roll the butter out to a thickness of 1/4 inch using wax paper or plastic wrap.
Turn the butter over, uncover it, fold it in two, recover, and then roll it again until it becomes pliable. It should be approximately 1/4 inch thick.
The butter should be turned a couple of times, allowing it to cool with each turn. The butter will be at the right temperature, allowing you to uncover it and continue. The butter should be soft enough to use at this point.
It’s also a lot of fun and incredibly satisfying to watch that butter spread out in your counter top!
Water Bathtub Technique
Another simple trick to use is to give your butter a bath in hot water.
In a medium-sized pot, heat some water until it is boiling or almost boiling.
Place butter in a glass bowl that is protected from excessive heat.
Double broilers can be made by placing the butter bowl atop your pot of boiling water.
Use a lid placed on top of the butter dish to soften it even faster.
